Sarah was teaching children's etiquette at a local school in Georgia, when she unexpectedly met the future love of her life, Matt. Their romance blossomed soon after, which eventually led into a heartfelt proposal with a vintage, family heirloom ring that belonged to her great-grandmother. Beautiful, soft candlelight, gorgeous seasonal flowers, and an abundance of family and friends set the stage for their romantic winter-themed wedding. Their big day was filled with smiles, laughter, a completely packed dance floor, and a send-off that consisted of guests jingling hundreds of little bells -- perfectly appropriate for the holiday season! Details from the winter-themed wedding. Q. How did Matt pop the question? A. It was mid-October and Matt had sent me a text that he'd pick me up from work for lunch. I assumed when I got in the car, that we'd go to our normal lunch spot, but instead, he took me to where we had our first date in 2007- the State Botanical Gardens of Georgia. He said they were having a cool exhibit that we needed to check out before heading to the cafe. I was a little apprehensive, not because I had any idea what was going on, but because I knew I only had an hour for lunch and I was getting hungry. We walked outside and I was looking around for an exhibit, but didn't see anything new. Just as I was turning to say to him, he stopped and faced me with tears in his eyes and a huge smile on his face. Before I knew it, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. I eagerly said "yes" and gave him a huge hug. Needless to say, I was completely surprised. Q. What was it like seeing your Matt for the first time on the big day? A. My heart was beating so fast! We decided to see each other about 30 minutes before the ceremony. I knew we might not have a moment right after the ceremony together, so I'm glad we shared that time before everything officially started and the whirlwind began. The pictures from our first look are some of my favorites-- we're both a little bit in shock. Q. Why did you choose your Kennedy Blue bridesmaid dresses? A. Bridesmaid dresses can be tricky, and I knew I wanted something classic, easy, and as cost-effective as possible. Kennedy Blue checked those boxes and the eggplant bridesmaid dresses turned out great. Q. What advice would you give to other brides? A. Don't forget your groom. It's easy to get carried away in the planning and details and excitement of the big day or weekend, but remember that while people say "it's your big day!", it's your big day with him. During the planning process, it's good to talk about things you like and don't like, but don't let it consume every moment you have together. You'll get burnt out. Remember to have actual quality time, too. Photography by: Millie Holloman Click here to see more of our real wedding stories featuring Kennedy Blue!
